Pasadena Daze

It started off as a lazy day, then we drove into Pasadena after lunch to get out of the house. Went to mass at our old church, St. Philip the Apostle (where the little Monkey was so tired he fell asleep in the pew), then dinner at Buca di Beppo in Old Town. I snapped this with my Blackberry on our way back from the restaurant. I love how perfectly imperfect it is.

Honor and Remembrance

Our Tiger Cub Scouts joined other local scouts in a Memorial Day flag placement yesterday at the nearby cemetery. By morning's end, miniature flags dotted the lush green lawn and all stood in reverence as "Taps" rang through the air.

Fun with Fungi

Mold workshop at The Huntington today. Very interesting stuff. Afternoon hands-on session was closed, so we had lunch at Michelle's Pancake followed by a wonderful, rare tour of the Library and Munger Research Center, and the "new" Chinese Garden at the Botanical Gardens. Excellent info, food and company today. :)

Inseparable

Lazy, Hazy Sunday

A peaceful, gray day. Early morning in the garden, now relaxing with a little Ella and chardonnay candles...
My favorite roses.

Strawberries and thyme.

New centerpieces for our patio table.
Our new square foot garden with veggies, herbs, and seeds of "ruby" swiss chard, radish, nasturtium, and mesclun lettuce mix. Pray for germination!

Clockwise from top: bell peppers, "Ichiban" eggplant, Japanese cucumber, "husky" cherry tomato, flat leaf parsley, "black beauty" zucchini.

That Face

Greetings from San Diego

My boy and I hopped on the Amtrak Surfliner last weekend to meet Daddy in San Diego for a family weekend. The weather could not have been more perfect for the zoo, USS Midway, Maritime Museum, and lots and lots of good food. Wonderful weekend with minimal meltdowns! There is hope yet! :)
